Description
Join us for Drawn Together Art's staged reading of Yasmina Reza hilarious and thought-provoking play examining the nature of friendship and art. The play explores friendship dynamics among three young professionals, one of which has just purchased an expensive piece of art. Longtime regional director, Tracey Vaughan, remarks, ‘In 1994, I went to the National Gallery in D.C. One of the most popular rooms housed what was called the White Series. In this room were countless “white” paintings of various sizes, featuring a variety of lines and brush strokes, some imperceptible. The room was buzzing with disbelief, loud arguments, laughter, and thoughtful discussion. The series provoked conversation like no other room. This play asks the same question: what is art? More importantly, it asks: what is friendship, and on what is it based? With every laugh along the way, we delve deeper into the meanings of both questions.’ This production will transform The Art Spirit Gallery into an immersive experience and featuring local professional actors Leeja Junker, Chris Hansen, and Gatieh Nacario to bring this thought-provoking comedy to life.
Immerse yourself in The Art Spirit Gallery's lively and evocative May exhibition with such artists as Chris Riccardo, Helen Parsons, Pat Siler, Michael Horswill, and Noah Riedel. Drawn Together Art's mission is to produce theatrical entertainment that intersects the fine arts in an intimate and interactive way. "This production really intersects this exhibition in an intersecting way because the artists are full of pop references, often subversive subject matter, and urban themes which pair well with the comradery, colloquial language and relationship between characters in the script," says Duncan Clark Menzies, the executive director of Drawn Together Arts.
